Cody Heath McGraw, 39, of Somerville, was arrested after investigators say he admitted to starting a residential fire on July 21.

Deputies with the Morgan County Sheriff's Office, Somerville Police, and area firefighters responded to a home in the 50 block of Springfield Private Drive after a fire was reported.

While crews were responding, a suspicious person was reported near the home when the fire began and was seen leaving the area on foot. Deputies later located the person and notified investigators.

According to the Morgan County Sheriff's Office, McGraw admitted to starting the fire during the investigation. He was charged with first degree arson and is being held without bond pending an Aniah's Law hearing.

The occupants were able to safely exit the home, and no injuries were reported.

An arrest does not mean a person has been found guilty. All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
