Cullman “Cruise Ship Couple” Tests Negative For COVID-19

June and Len Brooks have tested negative for COVID-19 after being quarantined in Texas. The couple were on the Princess Cruise Ship that was anchored off the coast of California after 21 passengers and crew members tested positive for the virus.

The Brookses were sent to Lackland Air Force base in San Antonio, Texas. On the base, they have a specially trained disaster response team working with them. Everyone there wears protective gear and must stay 6 feet apart when outside. Those at the base have their temperatures taken every day. “We will continue doing these practices,” said June Brooks, “When we get home and urge everyone to do the same until the threat of COVID -19 is over. ”

Regarding their stay at Lackland Air Force Base, June Brooks said, “We have been treated very well here. The food is catered for our group and it is really good, we have enjoyed brisket which is a Texas specialty. We enjoy traveling but always look forward to returning home, for we live in such a wonderful place, Cullman, Alabama!”

Her husband Len Brooks, who also tested negative for the virus said, “We are fortunate to be in a position that allowed us to be protected and effectively tested giving us assurance that we do not have the COVID-19 virus. In addition, we have been educated and trained to the best extent possible on the most effective methods of slowing the spread of the virus and to know you can be successful if everyone works together to abide by the recommendations of the health care experts.”

We look forward to having June and Len back home!
